For some UMBC students, especially those who live on campus, “Arbutus” is nothing more than the name of a transit route, but the town has a lot to offer. Those who venture outside the loop will be rewarded by small town charm, bargain moves, cheap booze and restaurants that give them a break from Salsarita’s. The Arbutus community also provides a more approachable option for students interested in off-campus activities but intimidated by downtown Baltimore.
