A hearing in Baltimore decided the order of the six trials for the police officers being charged in connection with the death of Freddie Gray. Gray died after being fatally injured while in police custody, allegedly during his time in the back of a police van. The officers in question are accused of violating department policy by not securing Gray by strapping him in, and by ignoring his repeated requests for medical attention while in custody. Baltimore officials have said that they would like to try one officer, William Porter, first, so that he can be called as a witness in later trials.

Baltimore County police released a statement on Monday that a woman had been found dead inside the home of a girl who was discovered alone in a CVS parking lot Sunday night in Arbutus. Police stated that there were no signs of foul play in the woman’s death, later identified as Brittany Jackson. Jackson was the mother of the girl found by police, identified as Jaycia Jackson. According to police, the girl was found with some blood on her clothes but was not injured.

Governor Larry Hogan is urging Maryland residents who paid income taxes in another state between 2011 and 2014 to apply for a refund. Hogan told Baltimore CBS that “an estimated 55,000 taxpayers are eligible, due to a Supreme Court ruling earlier this year. It could add up to more than $200 million.” So far, Maryland has returned about $53 million. Until the Supreme Court ruled on the income tax, Maryland was double-taxing income that state residents earned outside of the state.
