Senior outside hitter Hannah Schmidt became just the eighth player in UMBC history to record 1000 kills in their career when the Retrievers took on Binghamton University in Vestal, NY over the weekend. Schmidt recorded six kills in UMBC’s 3-0 loss to the Bearcats, and 11 against the University at Albany in a 3-2 win.

Schmidt currently sits second on the team in number of kills this season with 167, and is averaging 2.39 kills per set. She trails only junior middle blocker Sherelle Walker, who leads the team with 198.

With the split over the weekend, the Retrievers are tied for the last America East Conference tournament spot with Stony Brook University. Both teams are 3-3 in conference with the second half of conference play still to go.

The Seawolves won the first meeting, 3-1, but the teams will meet again at the Retriever Activities Center on Oct. 31. UMBC travels to New Hampshire University this Friday, before heading to the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Sunday.
